What is Kambo?
Kambo is a sacred Amazonian medicine derived from the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog, also known as the Giant Monkey Tree Frog. For centuries, Indigenous tribes of the Amazon basin—such as the Matsés, Katukina, and Yawanawá—have used Kambo in ritual and healing practices to cleanse the body, strengthen the spirit, and deepen connection to nature and self.
Traditionally, Kambo is known as a “hunter’s medicine,” used to sharpen the senses, increase endurance, and clear both physical and energetic blockages. In Amazonian wisdom, Kambo is also revered for its ability to dispel Panema—a heavy, cloud-like energy that obscures clarity and vitality. The Application
During a Kambo Cleanse, small points are gently opened on the surface of the skin—typically on the upper arm or leg—using a traditional Tamishi vine (Heteropsis spp.). Harvested sustainably from the Amazon rainforest, this sacred vine has been used by Indigenous practitioners for generations. Its natural properties make it ideal for creating precise, gentle openings, as it burns cleanly without splintering or leaving residue.
Once the points are prepared, the Kambo secretion is applied, allowing the medicine to enter the lymphatic system and begin working throughout the body. Within moments, you may feel warmth, tingling, or subtle energetic shifts as the medicine interacts with your system—beginning its process of purification and renewal.
